Countering Extremism: Social Exclusion, Injustice, and the Power of Inclusion

In this episode, Ms. Nabiya Khatibi examines the social and psychological dimensions of extremism, focusing on how exclusion, discrimination, injustice, poverty, marginalization, and identity crises can create conditions in which extremist narratives gain influence.
Drawing on her academic perspective and discussion of the 2020 Strategic Dialogues Report, Ms. Khatibi explores the relationship between social exclusion and radicalization, particularly among young people who may experience limited access to education, political participation, economic opportunities, and social justice.
She emphasizes the importance of empowering women and youth, strengthening justice-oriented dialogue, promoting responsible media engagement, and creating inclusive communities where individuals can participate meaningfully in society.
